    Salads

Looking for something fresh to pair with your fish? Make a bowl of fresh salad! These salad recipes make some of the best sides for fish. They are all easy to make and healthy.

Tomato and cucumber salad garnished with black olives in a white bowl.

Turkish Shepherd Salad: This is one of the easiest salads that you can make in 5 minutes. Chopped tomatoes, cucumbers and onions are flavored with sumac, lemon juice and olive oil. It gives the refreshing taste you want to complement a fish dinner.

Turkish White Bean Salad: This is a salad full of Mediterranean flavors. Tomatoes, onions and fresh herbs are combined with creamy white beans and flavored with an olive oil lemon dressing. It is a great easy side dish you can serve with any meal including fish. Plus, you can serve it as a light lunch on its own.

Greek Yogurt Coleslaw: A colorful, crunchy and tangy coleslaw can never go wrong when served alongside a fish dish. It is a classic seafood side for us. It is flavored with a Greek yogurt dressing and has no mayo. We always make more than we need and store the leftovers in the fridge for later use. It tastes even better the next day.

Caesar Salad: It is known as one of the best side dishes for fish. Fresh and crisp romaine lettuce and croutons are combined with a creamy dressing with anchovy flavor and topped with parmesan cheese. This salad has everything that will make you feel satisfied and healthy.

Panzanella Salad: Crusty bread, juicy tomatoes, basil leaves and onions come together in a bowl with an amazing vinaigrette dressing. This vibrant salad is a perfect companion for baked fish or fried fish.

    Vegetable Side Dishes

Do you want to incorporate some vegetables in your fish meal? Are you into starchy vegetable sides? Want a low-calorie option? Here is a great list of vegetable side dishes that can go well with any fish recipe. They are all easy to make and satisfying.

Vegetable skewers on a white plate.

Vegetable Skewers: Want some healthy veggies with your fish? Put the vegetables on skewers and in the oven or on the grill. This is one of the best ways of including vegetables into your diet.

Roasted Lemon Potato Salad No Mayo: It makes a classic fish side dish that will never disappoint. Chopped potatoes or potato wedges are simply roasted in the oven and flavored with lemony garlic sauce. They are much healthier than French fries. A baked or fried fish dinner served with these roasted potatoes perfectly fills up your stomach.

Cauliflower roasted with tomato sauce in a white baking pan.

Vegan Tomato Cauliflower Casserole: Cauliflower is flavored with garlic, tomatoes and lemon and baked in oven. This recipe is not one of those bland cauliflower recipes. It tastes so good! It is another healthy side dish that you can eat with your fish.

Ratatouille: Here is a perfect dish that is loaded with eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash and sweet bell peppers. It is cooked to perfection in a tasty tomato sauce. It is satisfying not only with its taste but also its colorful look. Your fish dinner turns into a real feast with this French-inspired side dish.

Mashed Sweet Potatoes: This is a sweet and creamy side dish that goes very well with fish. It is a perfect alternative to whipped potatoes. With a little butter and heavy cream in it, you will feel like you are having a delicious pie. Everything is cooked on the stove top and it is ready in 40 minutes.

Sugar Snap Peas: Sugar snap peas are amazing as a healthy snack. So why don’t we pair it with fish? Their natural sweetness adds a nice touch to the whole dinner.

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts: We are aware that brussels sprouts might be tricky. This is the recipe you need if you are still hesitant about this vegetable. They are lightly sweetened with brown sugar and cooked in a pan. They will surely knock your socks off!

Garlic Green Beans: Pan-fried fresh green beans flavored with garlic are one of the healthiest vegetable side dishes for your favorite fish recipe. Ready in 10 minutes!

Spiced rice pilaf made with raisins, pine nuts and herbs served in a white bowl with a spoon inside it. Parsley and olive oil on the side.

Rice With Raisins: This pilaf  has incredibly well-balanced sweet and savory flavors thanks to the raisins, spices (allspice and cinnamon), pine nuts and parsley. Combine it with mild fish like sea bass or cod and feel full in the most pleasant way.

Mushroom Risotto: This simple creamy mushroom risotto is another amazing side with rice to pair with fish. You can serve your fish on top of risotto and enjoy them together.

If you want more sides with grains in your menu, you can learn how to cook bulgur and how to cook wheat berries. These are one of the easiest grains to cook and make healthy and tasty sides for any meal.

    Sauces

A good sauce can take a fish dinner to the next level. So we’ve gathered our favorite sauces in a list below that go great with any white fish or Turkish style fried calamari called kalamar tava.

Dill Sauce: It’s another classic topping for fish. Sour cream, fresh dill, lemon and garlic come together for a perfect dip sauce. It is so fragrant and makes your meal taste and look fancier.

Tartar Sauce: This is the sauce we love to pair with any seafood. It elevates your meal without overpowering it. Make a jar and keep it in the fridge for about a week to use when you crave fish.

In this roundup post, we’ve tried to answer your question of what to serve with fish. Hope you find it helpful to plan your dinner menu.
