Making Oven Roasted Figs couldn't be easier! Put the figs in oven and forget them there for 40 min! Cinnamon, rosemary and honey make a super delicious combination together with baked figs. Serve them as a healthy snack or dessert.

Looking for easy yet impressive fig recipes? Here is a ridiculously easy way to celebrate fresh fig season. Although they are wonderful as they are, I love to experiment on new recipes based on figs as in my recipe for Stuffed Figs Recipe or Fig Bread. This time, I wanted to keep things simple and ended up with these Oven Roasted Figs which combine the flavors of cinnamon, rosemary and honey. Obviously, these will be one of the best fig recipes you have ever had.

How To Make Oven Roasted Figs

This is one of those easy oven recipes. Just combine everything in a baking dish, put in a preheated oven and forget about it for 40 minutes. The sweetness of figs gets better when roasted, so this recipe gives you the feeling of a jam. If you like fresh fig jam or any other jam, but don’t want to waste time making a full pot of it, make these oven roasted figs. They release their juice as they cook for about 30 minutes, you can just stop at this point and remove the figs from oven and enjoy the easiest fig jam ever. I wanted to serve my figs as a dessert, so roasted them for an extra 10 minutes so that there would be almost no juice left and they would have a nice a little wrinkled texture.

Oven roasted figs might look simple, but they shouldn't be underestimated. Trust me these are bursting with flavors! This is a satisfaction-guaranteed fig dessert recipe. Figs are not too soft, you can still pick them with your hands. Brown sugar on each of fig slice adds a little more sweetness and a slight caramelization. Don’t overuse the sugar though because I recommend you to drizzle honey on each after they are done.

The cinnamon and rosemary complement the sweetness of these roasted figs, so don’t leave them out.

You can serve these oven roasted figs just as they are or with a little cheese or cream on top of each. These can be preserved in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a later use. You can top your breakfast yogurt or pair a slice of fresh fig bread with these. You can even use these yummy figs in sandwiches.

Delicious. I found them perfectly sweet enough without the honey.

My fig trees are producing like crazy now, and this recipe is so easy. I roasted for 40 minutes last time, but I just saw a note that says after 30 mins it will have the consistency of jam. That's what I'm going to do with this batch!

Excellent. I skipped the brown sugar and honey as our brown turkey figs were already quite sweet. Loved the cinnamon and rosemary with the figs. Thank you!!!

I’d love to make these so I think I’ll give it a go! I have an amazing amount of figs from our trees, both green and purple.
What I’d LIKE to do is to freeze some straight off the tree and then roast them later on in the year, what do you think?
Or would you roast them and then freeze them? Xxx

How lucky you are to have fig trees! We can never have enough of them.
As for your question, honestly we have never tried freezing figs. So we don't want to mislead you. But we would prefer roasting them first and then freezing. They should be keeping their shape and taste better this way.

I have extra figs this year. I would like to freeze these roasted figs to serve later in the year as a savoury amuse bouche. Do you have any tips for doing this successfully please?

        Hi Linda,
Honestly, we have never tried freezing them. But they should keep well after they are completely cool and stored in resealable freezer bags.

What if I only have dried rosemary ? Should I even try it without the rosemary? I am currently planting some actually so it will be nice once it’s here.

        Hi Julie,
Dried rosemary works fine too. You can use fresh thyme if you have it. Or just roast the figs without herbs. They will still be tasty. Thyme and rosemary just give a nice aroma.

This sounds so good! Unfortunately I can no longer have cinnamon. What do you think would be a good substitute, cardamom, allspice or something else?

Hi Sarah! Well, they are still tasty without cinnamon. But if you want a substitute for it, we would recommend cloves.
