Making Oven Roasted Figs couldn't be easier! Put the figs in oven and forget them there for 40 min! Cinnamon, rosemary and honey make a super delicious combination together with baked figs. Serve them as a healthy snack or dessert.
Looking for easy yet impressive fig recipes? Here is a ridiculously easy way to celebrate fresh fig season. Although they are wonderful as they are, I love to experiment on new recipes based on figs as in my recipe for Stuffed Figs Recipe or Fig Bread. This time, I wanted to keep things simple and ended up with these Oven Roasted Figs which combine the flavors of cinnamon, rosemary and honey. Obviously, these will be one of the best fig recipes you have ever had.
How To Make Oven Roasted Figs
This is one of those easy oven recipes. Just combine everything in a baking dish, put in a preheated oven and forget about it for 40 minutes. The sweetness of figs gets better when roasted, so this recipe gives you the feeling of a jam. If you like fresh fig jam or any other jam, but don’t want to waste time making a full pot of it, make these oven roasted figs. They release their juice as they cook for about 30 minutes, you can just stop at this point and remove the figs from oven and enjoy the easiest fig jam ever. I wanted to serve my figs as a dessert, so roasted them for an extra 10 minutes so that there would be almost no juice left and they would have a nice a little wrinkled texture.
Oven roasted figs might look simple, but they shouldn't be underestimated. Trust me these are bursting with flavors! This is a satisfaction-guaranteed fig dessert recipe. Figs are not too soft, you can still pick them with your hands. Brown sugar on each of fig slice adds a little more sweetness and a slight caramelization. Don’t overuse the sugar though because I recommend you to drizzle honey on each after they are done.
The cinnamon and rosemary complement the sweetness of these roasted figs, so don’t leave them out.
You can serve these oven roasted figs just as they are or with a little cheese or cream on top of each. These can be preserved in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a later use. You can top your breakfast yogurt or pair a slice of fresh fig bread with these. You can even use these yummy figs in sandwiches.

Do I pick the figs before they are ripen completely? Can figs be frozen? My trees are loaded!! Thank you.
Yusuf says
Hi Maria, we use ripe figs for this recipe. And I don't think figs taste good when frozen. My suggestion would be drying them if you have an abundance of figs. Depending on where you live, you can dry figs under the sun. Cut them in two, place on a wire rack and put them under the sun. They will dry in a week depending on the strength of sun light. If you don't have this chance, you can dry them in the oven too. Place the fig halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them dry in the oven at the lowest temperature (80F/30C), keeping the door of the oven ajar. This will take 4-5 hours. Turn them over a few times during this time. Make sure they are completely dry and store them in airtight containers with some bay leaves inside. Hope this helps 🙂

Are this tonight with maple syrup instead of brown sugar. Then drizzled the sauce from bottom of the pan instead of more honey….delicious. Will add cheese and some toasted walnuts next time. Thanks for the great (and easy) recipe.

Hi Pat,
So happy to hear that you liked this super easy fig recipe. Maple syrup sounds like a great substitute! And have to try cheese and walnuts too. Thanks for the ideas!
Can't wait the fig season to start here!
Karin R says
I tried it with maple syrup and cinnamon, but no rosemary, we didn’t have any. OMG! this is so good! I want to make this as a topping for French Toast.
Yusuf says
So happy to hear that you liked it! Putting them on French toast sounds brilliant!
Sarah Nicholas says
looks yummy. I will be having my birthday next week and have brought some figs. I will be making these and putting a dollop of mascarpone on top of them. Can't wait

Wish you the best,

This is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten. After finishing a batch, I went out and bought more figs so I could make more
Whitney says
I have an abundance of figs right now from 2 trees, so have tried various recipes. This is a clear winner! Simple and delicious! I sprayed a casserole dish with coconut oil and then filled it with figs. I added a dusting sea salt and they are outstanding! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
Yusuf says
Hi Whitney! Thank you so much for the feedback and sharing your twist. Coconut oil and sea salt are brilliant ideas!
S. B. says
If you enjoy the slightly salty vs. sweet balance… try adding 1/3 cup of diced pancetta instead of the sea salt.
Yusuf says
Wow! Pancetta would be an amazing addition! Thanks for the idea!
Tarn says
Just made these tonight as a simple dessert. I included the cinnamon and rosemary, and also added ground cardamom. The aroma of all that roasting in my toaster oven is absolutely divine! I snuck a wedge out for a taste and it's as heavenly as its tantalizing smell! I plan to serve with a dollop of Allouette herbed cheese, drizzled with honey. Can't wait for dessert!
Yusuf says
Hi Tarn, glad you enjoyed the recipe! Thank you so much for the feedback! Adding cardamom and serving it with herbed cheese sounds great!
Juliet says
Simple and delicious but the very sweet ripe figs barely need any sugar
Anita says
These were SO delish and easy to make!! I can’t wait to make more!
Zerrin says
Hi Anita! Glad to hear that you loved these roasted figs as much as I do. We are having the last days of fresh figs here in Turkey, so I must make these more often before the season ends.
Chris says
Wow Yusef, brilliant recipe - thankyou. Delicious. I added a drizzle of olive oil, and served on fresh yoghurt, topped with chopped walnuts. Many thanks.
Yusuf says

Miranda says
My favorite part about this recipe is that I already have all the ingredients!! I can almost taste the honey on the figs through this computer screen.... this is definitely going on my to-do list 🙂 thank you so much for sharing!
Paul says
How long will these last in the fridge afterwards?
Zerrin says
You can keep them in the fridge for a few days, but I'd suggest that you reheat if you like it warm.
Amy Chidley says
Yummy. So easy to do. My fussy son enjoyed them after refusing them at first. We had some vanilla ice cream too.
Zerrin says
Yay! So happy to hear that your son loved these. Vanilla ice cream makes a perfect match!
Donna says
I can’t read the method on my iPad as there is an ad covering it. Reported it as such but it’s still there now.
Zerrin says
Will take care of it. Thanks Donna!
Siobhan says
These didn't work for me at all...figs came out wilted and soft, didn't hold their shape like they do in your pictures. When I removed the pan from the oven there was a ton of liquid in the bottom from them cooking...any thoughts?
Zerrin says
Sorry to hear that the recipe didn't work for you. Were the figs you used overripe? This might be the reason.
Elaine says
These figs look absolutely stunning! Fantastic recipe Zerrin - I am so much inspired now to make something similar 🙂
Zerrin says
Thank you Elaine! I love its simplicity the most.
Your salad beet and fig salad looks amazing too 🙂
