These Chocolate Covered Orange slices are so amazing that you can impress anyone with them! You don’t always have to make fancy desserts like a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache for special occasions. You can sometimes go as simple as these orange treats and still be admired. Just candy some orange slices and dip them into chocolate. Simple yet seriously tempting, isn’t it worth trying?
We love the combination of chocolate and orange, so do our guests especially after they tasted these Orange Chocolate Brownies and Cognac Chocolate Truffles. We mostly use orange to give a citrus flavor to any chocolate dessert, but this time we made a difference. Orange itself plays the main role in this recipe and its performance is extremely impressive! Nobody can resist these sweet, juicy, a bit tangy, very slightly bitter chocolate covered orange slices!
I just didn’t want to separate the skin from the fruit as I love them together. I sometimes eat oranges as they are, no peeling. Just slice them thin and enjoy! These are like the icing on the cake when dipped into chocolate!
I recommend you to use thin skinned oranges for this recipe since we leave them on the fruit. They might be unwantedly bitter if you use thick ones. I’m not an orange expert and I’m not familiar with the English names of orange types, either but I made a quick research and I think Valencia Oranges are great for this recipe.
If you decide to make these chocolate coverd orange slices, you should start making them in the evening since the candied orange slices are best when waited overnight. You may not wait for several hours without testing, testing and retesting the candied slices if you don’t sleep, that’s why I suggest making these in the evening or late at night.
Candying orange slices is such an easy step, don’t worry. The hardest step is waiting. Then again you simply dip the candies slices into chocolate and chill them for an hour. You can store these in an airtight container for 4-5 days.
Believe me these chocolate covered orange slices make wonderful sweet treats! So who do you want to impress? Your colleagues? Your friends? Your kids? Your partner on the Valentine's Day? Make these and thank me later!

CAN I STORE THESE IN FRIDGE OR FREEZER BEFORE DELIVERY AND FOR HOW LONG ???

Made them! Came out perfect. Second time I used clementines, but made the slice a bit thicker. They were perfectly bite size . The family loved them. Thanks for the recipe!

Ratio of water and sugar is just wrong in this recipe. You will not get a candied orange slice at this ratio. Try something more like 3 parts sugar to two parts water. For instance, one cup of sugar to two thirds of a cup of water. Maybe even less water. With this new ratio the cooking and resting time can both be reduced.

I just tried to make these, and as another person has said, the ratio of sugar to water is wrong. I'll see how these turn out after sitting overnight, but if I make them again I'll try a much reduced amount of water

These were so easy to make. The hardest part was waiting. I have also used grapefruit and tangerine and they were really good too.

hello
thank you for sharing your great recipes. i'm just making this delicious orange in chocolate. the oranges i just took out of the sugar water and they don't look as nice as yours. the fruit meat somehow fell pretty much apart. what can i do, that this does not happen? maybe slice them in thicker peaces? i'm happy to hear from you.
best regards,
valeria

Hi Valeria, sorry to hear that. It could be the type of orange you used. If its skin is thick and if the segments of the fruit easily fall apart, you might have such problems. The ones I used are mostly used for their juice here, so if there is a type of orange in your area which is used for its juice, you can try them for this reciipe. All the best!

I followed the recipe exactly and the oranges are still not hard or tacky at all. The slices are not to thick or thin, the ingredients were correct, and don't tell be it's not the "right type" of orange because that makes absolutely no sense. It's been over 12 hours now and they are just soft and mushy. I also made sure there was no excess liquid surrounding the slices so that they could dry more efficiently.

Really sorry to hear that. I have no idea why the recipe failed for you. Maybe you need to increase the amount of sugar if the oranges are not sweet enough.

Yes I agree - mi e are still wet and not possible to even think about dipping in chocolate.
