Pepinos con Chile is a classic Mexican snack that effortlessly balances refreshing, spicy, and tangy flavors. Crunchy cucumber slices are flavored with a vibrant blend of lime juice and chili powder, offering a delightful burst of zest with every bite. Perfect for hot summer days!


  • 1 large cucumber 
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon Tajin chili powder (or any chili powder you have)
  • A pinch of salt, optional (might be needed if you don’t use Tajin)


  1. Wash the cucumber well. Peel it and cut into thick slices or spears. 
  2. Transfer them in a bowl. Pour the fresh lime juice over them and sprinkle with Tajin chili powder. 
  3. Serve immediately.


  1. You can leave the skin on the cucumber if you want. 
  2. While Tajin is a popular choice, any chili powder will work. Some alternatives include Ancho, Chipotle, or even cayenne for those who like it extra spicy. Remember, some chili powders might not contain salt, so adjust seasoning accordingly.
  3. Always serve this snack with more chili powder and lime wedges on the side so that everyone can add more of these if they want.
  4. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They're best consumed within a day or two to maintain freshness.
