This Turkish spice blend brings together the most popular spices used in Turkish cuisine, including cumin, paprika, pul biber, and oregano. Perfect for marinating and seasoning chicken, lamb, beef, fish, and vegetables, this blend adds rich, authentic flavors to any dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 teaspoons oregano
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons pul biber (red pepper flakes)
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  1. Put all the spices in a bowl and whisk well using a small whisk or a fork.
  2. Store the mixture in an airtight container or a small jar. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  3. It can be kept for up to a year. However, check the expiration date on each spice to ensure none of them expire earlier. Use the earliest expiration date as the expiry date of your blend.
  4. Give the container a shake before each use.

  2. Use about 1 tablespoon of this spice mix for 1 pound (450 grams) of chicken, lamb, beef, or fish when grilling, roasting, pan-frying, or air frying. It's a personal choice, so you can use more or less according to your taste.
  3. If you are using it in other dishes, use less (about 1 teaspoon).
  4. This mix contains salt. When using it in a recipe, make sure to leave out the additional salt in that recipe.
