Olive Oil Banana Bread Recipe with Yogurt

Moist chocolate chip banana bread packed with chocolate chips and tastes like banana.


  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • ¾ cup mashed banana (2 ripe)
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¾ cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon extra chocolate chips for topping


  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Butter a 9 x 5 loaf pan and line it with parchment paper. Butter the bottom of the paper too to remove it easier.
  3. Whisk together the sugar and egg until creamy. Add in oil and plain yogurt and mix well.
  4. Mash the bananas with a fork and add it into the mixture.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Pour this gradually into the wet mixture.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and pour it into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on the top and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread rest 10-15 minutes before removing.
