I love to start meal with soup especially in winter. That wouldn’t be wrong to say that my favourite course is soup. Luckily, we have hundreds of soup recipes in Turkish cuisine. Some of them could be considered as main course as they contain a lot of ingredients. Although there are several variations of lentil soup, green lentil sweet pea soup is the one which is like a main course. The ingredients in this soup are enough for you to get full, so I sometimes have just this soup as lunch or dinner.
Green lentils are very healthy ingredients and I try to use them as much as I can in my cooking. This soup becomes a hit in our home in winter. It is a perfect vegetarian dish as well.

Lentil Sweet Pea Soup
A heartwarming soup with green lentils, bulgur and sweet peas.

- 1 cup green lentil
- 2 tbsp bulgur
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 green pepper
- 2 tomatoes, grated
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 onion, chopped
- ½ cup pea
- 2 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 5 cups hot water
- Salt to taste
- 1tsp dried mint
- Saute onion with olive oil in a pot until brown.
- Add in tomato paste, grated tomato and garlic stir.
- Add in dried mint on it and stir for 2 minutes.
- Add in green lentils, bulgur, peas and salt stir.
- Pour hot water in it and cook until tender.
- Add lemon juice before serving.
You can serve this soup with a dollop of yogurt.
