Did I tell you before how much we love avocado? I’ve always tried savory recipes with this healthy food, but this time I wanted to make a change with this Avocado Buttercream Frosting.

I’m not sure if this frosting is common around the world, but it has become a hit in our home. I must top these Eggless Chocolate Coffee Cupcakes with this frosting next time.

I’m sure people will think that I use green food coloring for this frosting, but they will be amazed when they learn that the color is from avocado. The avocado taste in this buttercream is subtle, yet in a great combination with sweetness of sugar and makes a perfect complement to chocolate cakes.

What makes this avocado buttercream insanely good? It is rich, silky, creamy and melts in your mouth. You can have it even as a dessert like avocado pudding. Wouldn’t it be great this summer?
To keep that nice green color, lemon juice is the best. It prevents the avocado from turning brown.
I’m sure your friends will be impressed when you say that the frosting is made with avocado, and there is no food coloring. It’s the first time I’ve tried avocado buttercream and I love it! As it was intended to be an experiment, it was in small amount, but I will be making this again for sure.

Does it taste lemony?
Yusuf says
No not at all. It helps the avocado keep the color.

I am just making this recipe, but adding Organic Cacao, and a little honey (from friends own honey bees..).and Inshall be dividing some into another bowl and adding fresh orange juice, and to the other part fresh lemon juice...(first time for everything) I just love chocolate orange...May have to not add vanilla extract but not sure yet...Always trial and error...of course you can always add espresso coffee as well ..Just a few of my own ideas when making more so I am using 3 avocados.then dividing it into the 3 flavors...maybe even chocolate mint...Peppermint extract...😋😋

I would definitely start with this avocado frosting over another recipe on another blog which called for two cups of powdered sugar - that's insane. She remarked that her husband actually ate one of her desserts, which he would not normally do, because of her frosting - well no sh** sherlock, he probably ingested about 50 grams of sugar so of course he liked it!

Even with adding the lemon juice, doesn't the frosting turn black?

This sounds great for my son. How long does the frosting last?
Zerrin says
It disappears on the same day in our home, but I think you can keep them for 2 days at most.
