I thought a lot on the name of this amazing snack. Basicly, these are roasted rumpkin seeds, but hearing the pops coming from the oven, I thought these could also be named as pop pumpkin seeds just like the name popcorn.
Do you throw the seeds out when you make something with a pumpkin? You’re making a big mistake if you do so. Roasted pumpkin seeds make an extremely addictive snack that you can serve at football parties! Believe me your parties will become even more fun with these! Make sure that you have enough of these seeds before your guests arrive since they will disappear in no time. Nobody even notices how fast they are gone, so I suggest doubling the amount of seeds depending on the number of your guests.
This is such an easy snack that I feel a bit embarrassed to share the recipe. Well, it may not even sound like an actual recipe, but there might be some people out there knowing very little things about cooking. So this recipe is for them! I will also share my experience about these roasted pumpkin seeds so that you make it the right way at your first try.
For one thing, you should clean the seeds very well until there aren’t pumpkin guts. There is no easy way of this step, at least I don’t know any. So you might find it annoying, but believe me the roasting process is so easy that you will be happy with the result.
Wash the seeds very well and dry them on a paper towel before putting them into the oven. You can even wash them overnight and wait on a clean piece of cloth or paper towel until morning so that they are completely dried.
I use poppy seeds to give a nice texture on the shells and to make them even crispier when eating. I want my roasted pumpkin seeds look more fancy.
These seeds are roasted really fast, so I suggest you to watch the process in the kitchen. Otherwise, you might forget them in the oven and they might easily burn. You don’t want this, right? Keep in mind that the insides of these seeds are cooked really fast, so you should check if they are cooked after 15 minutes. If you think they are done, you don’t need to continue roasting. If you want them to get even more crispy, then roast them for another 5 minutes.
You need to take the seeds from oven and flip them over twice before they are done. They will be roasted evenly this way.
So if you have a large pumpkin in your kitchen now, don’t throw the seeds out and give these roasted pumpkin seeds a shot! No need to mention how healthy these seeds are! You can get the iron your body needs from these seeds. Healthy and addictive. A super magical snack, isn’t it?

- 3 cups of pumpkin seeds, cleaned, washed and dried
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp poppy seeds
- Preheat oven at 180C.
- Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Put the seeds on it.
- Drizzle olive oil over them.
- Add salt and poppy seeds and mix with a spoon.
- Put in the oven and roast for 10 minutes.
- Take the pan out of the oven, but don’t leave its door open.
- Flip over the seeds with a spoon and put them back into the oven.
- Repeat the same step after 5 minutes and roast them for another 5 minutes.
- Serve when they are still warm or cold.
