pumpkin

Pumpkin is not only so tasty but it also has curative effects on several diseases. And now it is cheap too!

Pumpkin is mostly used for sweet dishes in Turkey. Other dishes from pumpkin are not that common here. It is an outstanding fruit at markets when it’s Winter.

Refik Baskaya, a pumpkin planter in Kesan, Edirne, has offered his crops for sale at 1TL/kg. He says that planting pumpkin requires studious care and attention. He added that his pumpkins weigh between 5kg and 35kg. As people buy 5kg at most, they have to cut them and sell in pieces.

He states that sales have increased with the coming new year as people make pumpkin dessert to serve their guests at new year’s night. He expresses that pumpkin is a special fruit with its positive effects on health.

Health Benefits of Pumpkin

Pumpkin is protective against alzheimer, early aging and cancer as it contains most of the strongest antioxidants which prevents body from ‘rusting’. Health experts state that pumpkin is a perfect nutrition source for eye and brain health. Moreover, pumpkin is said to have many benefits for stomach and intestines with its fibrious texture.

Her love of cooking started as a little child by messing her mom's dishes up! Despite all her mom's effort to teach her how to cook, she was happy as an 'assistant'. What made her want to jump to an upper level was her dad's compliments for the first dish she made herself. Finally, her husband, who claims that ancient humans were stronger than we are today as their main food source was meat, helped her love cooking meat dishes and improving vegetable dishes to make them more edible for him!
