Generally people prefer eating turkey to celebrate new year, but Turkish people prefer meat. And this was our New Year recipe. None of us can refuse such a taste. At least no Turkish person can. What about you?

Firinda Mantarli Kuzu

Ingredients
•    1 lamb ham, divided into 4 or 5 pieces, suet removed
•    3 onions
•    3 green peppers
•    100gr mushroom
•    3 garlic cloves, sliced
•    2 tbsp olive oil
•    1 tbsp tomato paste
•    1 cup hot water
•    1 tsp salt
•    1 tsp oregano

Wash the pieces of lamb ham in cold water. Put it in a pot. Add olive oil and onions (not chopped) in it. Onions are just to take the bad smell of meat while cooking. We won’t use it in the meal. Put the lid on the pot. And cook the meat until it gets as soft as Turkish delight. Turn the pieces occasionaly.
When the meat is cooked enough, take it into an oven pan. Place mushrooms and garlic cloves among the meat pieces. And lay the peppers on top.
In a small bowl, mix tomato paste and hot water. Pour it on the meat equally and add the water left in the pot. Sprinkle oregano on it.
Cover it with an aluminum foil and bake it for 30 minutes in high heat (200C)
Serve it with mashed potatoes and pilaf.

What made her want to jump to an upper level was her dad's compliments for the first dish she made herself. Finally, her husband, who claims that ancient humans were stronger than we are today as their main food source was meat, helped her love cooking meat dishes and improving vegetable dishes to make them more edible for him!
