I currently have an Exel spreadsheet as my journal – unfortunately, I keep changing it’s start date. It starts again on Monday! :) Let’s see what happens…

I am a clinical psychologist and have also conducted research in health psychology. I really like this post and think that a weight loss journal is important for exactly the reasons you describe. It keeps you honest because you have to face what you’ve eaten and be accountable. You can’t pretend that it didn’t count. Also, it can help you to figure out what triggers you to overeat. Are you more likely to overeat when you are hungry or tired, going out and celebrating, watching tv, or working on a deadline? What foods do you overeat? Knowing your triggers can help you make changes to reduce temptation. Thank you for a great suggestion and delicious recipes1

Yes its very true that one should keep track of all the things Calorie intake/ burn through any sources/resources . As one can become aware how exactly he/she needs to proceed and also whether he can become able to meet his/her goal or not. Otherwise people can not make control over there temptations or carvings and eat the things which they should not eat otherwise. Also it would be better to start the tracking from Monday or first of the month because of human psychology .
