Honeydew melon doesn’t require anything else to satisfy your sweet tooth! It is sweet enough and makes a perfect dessert to end a meal! If watermelon is the best summer food, melon is the second best for me! I can have these two for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I can eat them even as a snack between meals. No other foods can make you feel full and refreshed at the same time as they do! Although I love them as they are, I love to develop recipes with them too. Did you see  my Chocolate-dipped Watermelon recipe? It’s still a hit at our home! And this Honeydew Melon Smoothie came out as a refreshing drink in such an intolerably hot weather.

The most common way of using honeydew melon in Turkey is stuffing it with ice cream and fruit. It looks like a very special treat that way, but I wanted to have it as a drink this time. It was the first time I combined melon and milk. I was suspicious about its taste before I got the first sip, but it was heavenly! It’s like melted ice cream flavored with melon! The colder, the better so you should wait it in the refrigerator at least for an hour to reach that divine flavor! I didn’t add any ice not to destroy the flavor, but Yusuf drank it that way and he said it was better that way.

A refreshing summer drink with honeydew melon topped with coffee grains.
Serves: 4
  • ½ honeydew melon (4 cups when blended)
  • ½ cup cold milk
  • 1 tsp coffee grains
  • Wafers for garnish
  1. Put melon and milk in blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Chill it for an hour.
  3. Share it in glasses.
  4. Sprinkle coffee grains over them.
  5. Serve with wafers.
