Innovations in Give Recipe
Give Recipe is 3 months old today! When I started this website, I wasn’t aware that it would be in the center of my life. I was just planning to share recipes of Turkish cuisine. However, as I’m writing a post, I realize that “Give Recipe” has become my diary. I really love sharing about my experiences and talking on food here. And I’d like to thank my blogger friends as I’ve learnt lots of unique recipes besides a number of points of their culture.
I’m writing this post to announce a little innovation in my website.
I sometimes mention issues from Turkish culture while I’m talking about my culinary adventures. I’m sure there are a lot of people who love to learn about different cultures, and there is no doubt that there are several characteristics of our culture that those people find so interesting. So the first innovation will be related to this culture issue. I’ve decided to give them in a special box in posts to take some more attention on cultural information. I tested this cultural box in two of my previous posts. One of them is in the post of “Sobiyet”. A common tradition of Turkish people about the importance of dessert for the engagement of couples.
The other cultural box is in the post of “Bazlama Bread” and it is about the importance of the day when that post was published. It was the birthday of Sabiha Gökçen, a famous woman pilot in Turkish history. Briefly, I think that it will be more attracting if I give them in a special box.
The second innovation is a surprise from second mom (my husband’s mom). Besides being a great cook, she loves taking photos and drawing. She is living in Turgutreis/Bodrum, a dreamy sea resort. She visited us a few days ago and made a great surprise for me as usual. She is such a humorous person that she always finds something to surprise us, but this one is the best for me. She brought some very cute drawings with her for “Give Recipe”. There was something missing in my website and these drawings made by mom will fill the gap. That’s what she says. She said that she was impressed by the recipes and their photos in my website, and thought that drawings would make a great combination. I added one of them in my last post “Leek with Olive Oil”. I’d like to thank her for this very kind gesture. So I’ll share her drawings in some posts with short stories by me.
I hope you enjoy these two innovations which make me so excited. I’d love to hear your comments or suggestions about them.

I love your improvements – although how can you improve on perfection – I have so much fun reading and learning from your posts!

I think your innovations are fantastic! While ingredients and methods (and the resulting taste) are absolutely essential in cookery, they can only go so far in explaining why we eat what we eat, and why certain foods are so important to us individually and as a group. Understanding the historical and socio-cultural backgrounds of Turkish cuisine is as important as any spice, herb or sweetener and will allow us to enjoy another layer of flavor to your wonderful recipes!

I really like them! I think it’s a great idea to visually organize those details that way. One of the reasons I started learning about food and cooking was because I am always curious about the day-to-day life of other cultures, so I especially appreciate the tidbits!

I love learning cultural information along with learning about food! And, the drawing is very cute!
