7 Health Benefits of Sesame Seeds

Do you have sesame seeds in your pantry? Is it an ingredient you always have? Well, it’s one of the main ingredients in my kitchen as I often use it when making red bell pepper loaf, which I call Turkish pizza. You should check it out! We never buy it from the market, mom is so thoughtful that she brings us a great amount of sesame seeds whenever she visits us. She buys it from villagers who grow it in their yards.

You know tahini is made from sesame seeds, so it takes place in our kitchen in a different form too. Most people may not have the seeds, but they usually have tahini in winter.

Sesame seeds are generally used in pastries for garnish, so I think its health benefits are a bit underestimated. Besides helping pastries look more attractive, it also helps our body in other ways as long as it is consumed in proper amounts.

1. It’s a great source of manganese, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphor, vitamin B1, zinc and fiber.
2. It contains sesamin and sesamolin, which help lower the level of bad cholesterol and prevent high blood pressure.
3. It lowers pain and tumescence in body.
4. It is also a good antioxidant for body.
5. It reduces the symptoms of menostasis.
6. It helps preventing colon cancer, osteoporosis, migraine.
7. Sesame oil helps removing wrinkles on skin and it helps prevent skin diseases.
