400 Women 400 Turkish Dishes


Buyukcekmece, Istanbul International Culture and Art Festival welcomed people from all around the world this year. It was the 12th aniversary of the festival and about 1000 people from countries located in Europe, Asia, America and Africa continents visited Buyukcekmece for the festival this year. Many famous artists and dancers joined the festival. One of the events at the festival which took the biggest attraction from guests is “Turkish Dishes Day”. 400 women living in Buyukcekmece cooked their best dishes and served them in The Historical Caravansary. This has become a tradition for women there for 12 years. Each of them makes a special dish form Turkish cuisine including various regional dishes every year to serve the tourists coming to the festival and tourists taste whichever they like. Hasan Akgun, the mayor of Buyukcekmece, stated that visitors are impressed by Turkish dishes every year. Kebabs, manti and desserts are on top of favorite list of most visitors. They share their feelings with friends in their country and in this way, Turkish cuisine becomes more famous around the world.

    That sounds like a great festival. Wish I could have been there! Maybe next year I can arrange my vacation time for this! It is so hard to choose one dish for me but I would go for manti probably!
